What is the Shure MV7+?

The Shure MV7+ is a dynamic podcast microphone with both USB-C and XLR outputs. Shure says it was inspired by its SM7B studio mic. Plug it into a computer or phone over USB-C and it works right away, or connect it to an audio interface or mixer over XLR when your setup grows. It records at up to 24-bit, 48 kHz over USB.

What stands out

  • Two ways to connect. USB-C for simple setups, XLR for studio gear.
  • Built for noisy rooms. A dynamic cardioid capsule, a real-time Denoiser and Voice Isolation Technology help keep the focus on your voice.
  • Auto Level Mode. It adjusts your gain based on how far you are from the mic and how loud you speak.
  • Digital Popper Stopper. It reduces harsh "p" and "b" sounds, so you can skip a foam pop filter on camera.
  • LED touch panel. Tap to mute, watch your levels, and pick from 16.8 million colors.

Who is it for?

The MV7+ is for podcasters, streamers and remote workers who record in a normal room, not a treated studio. It's also a good pick if you want to start on USB now and move to an audio interface later without buying a new mic.

Skip it if you only need clearer audio on a few calls a week. A cheaper USB mic or a good headset will do. It's also not ideal if you like to sit far from the mic, because dynamic mics work best up close.

Our take

The MV7+ covers a lot of ground on paper. The USB-C and XLR outputs mean you won't outgrow it fast, and the noise tools target the real problem most home creators have. Keep in mind that the app's processing only works over USB, and the base box has no stand. Budget for a boom arm if you want it on camera.
